The Assembly of Delegates (large legislative body) of the VSS is the highest body of the association. The Assembly of Delegates sets the guidelines for the Association’s policy. It decides on the admission and exclusion of members, approves the annual reports of the Executive Board, the commissions and the representatives, deals with the finances, approves the budget and the annual accounts of the Association.
The Assembly of Delegates usually takes place twice a year. The number of persons entitled to vote depends on the size of the member section. Associate members (student associations) have the right to propose motions but not to vote.
The Section Council (small legislative body) works in accordance with the resolutions of the Assembly of Delegates. It can adopt important statements and resolutions within the framework of the association policy defined by the Assembly of Delegates. It also sets up working groups – always within the framework of the association policy defined by the Assembly of Delegates – and elects committee members and representatives as deputies of the Assembly of Delegates, as well as committee heads and board members in exceptional cases. It can also grant supplementary loans within the framework of the regulations and deal with proposals from the Executive Board and the committees. A core task of the Section Council is to support and review the ongoing work of the Executive Board.
The board is responsible for the strategic management of the Association in accordance with the decisions of the Assembly of Delegates and the Section Council. It is made up of the Co-Presidium and five ordinary members of the Executive Board.
Read moreThe thematic commissions (CodEg, SOLIC, HopoKo and SoKo) support the whole board. For example, they draw up political statements on topics that affect students and universities in accordance with the mandate of the Assembly of Delegates, the Section Council or the whole board.
Read moreWorking groups can be convened for specific topics or concrete tasks. They always work according to a defined set of specifications.
