Executive Board

The Executive Board is the executive body of the association.  As a member of the Executive Board, you will be part of a seven-person team responsible for the strategic management of the association and the implementation of decisions made by the Delegates’ Assembly and the Section Council. Get involved, develop ideas, visions, and demands with us. Represent the association and students at Swiss universities at national and international conferences, write articles, and talk about us. Take part in events ranging from panel discussions on higher education policy issues to flash mobs, and mobilize students around higher education policy issues. There are no limits to what you and your ideas can achieve!

What is the Executive Board?

The VSS Board is the executive body of the association.

What does the VSS Board do?

As a member of the Executive Board, you will manage the association as part of a team of 7.

What’s the point?

During your time on the Board, you will be involved in a large number of projects and can learn a great deal with a motivated team, such as project management, lobbying, personnel management, public speaking skills and much more. The tasks depend on the respective dossier.

How much work and time do I have to expect?

The workload on the board is not small, but it is easy to combine with your studies. It helps if you already have experience in a section or student council at your university, but this is not essential.

Training courses for inclusion in the VSS accreditation pool

Would you like to become a member of our accreditation pool and thus have the opportunity to participate in quality assurance procedures in Switzerland or abroad? We offer a qualification seminar for quality assurance. In principle, all students can become members of the student accreditation pool. Advantages include good knowledge of the Swiss higher education system, student participation experience and remaining in “student” status for one to one and a half years.

Call for applications for the Co-Presidency of the Equal Opportunities Commission (CodEg) of the VSS

The chairmanship of the CodEg is an exciting honorary position and can be held either alone or as part of a co-chairmanship. You are responsible for the coordination, management and preparation of the committee meetings (approx. 10 per year) and represent the committee internally and externally. The committee presidency works closely with the responsible member of the Executive Board and the Co-Secretariat General and has a seat on the legislative bodies of the VSS. In addition, the committee chairmen of all thematic committees meet regularly (approx. 4 times a year) to exchange ideas and exploit synergies.

Call for applications for the Co-Presidency of the VSS Thematic Commission for International Affairs and Solidarity (SOLIC)

The co-presidency of SOLIC is an exciting honorary position. Together you are responsible for the coordination, management and preparation of the committee meetings (approx. 10 per year) and represent the committee internally and externally. The committee chair works closely with the responsible member of the Executive Board and the Co-Secretariat General and has a seat on the legislative bodies of the VSS. In addition, the committee chairs of all thematic committees meet regularly (approx. 4 times a year) to exchange ideas and exploit synergies.

Call for Applications Co-Presidency of the Commission for Higher Education Policy (HopoKo) of the VSS

The presidency of the HoPoKo is an exciting honorary position and can be held either individually or as a co-presidency. You are responsible for coordinating, leading, and preparing the commission meetings (approximately 10 per year), and you represent the commission both within the association and externally. The commission presidency works closely with the responsible board member and the co-general secretariat, and it has a seat in the legislative bodies of the VSS. In addition, the presidencies of all thematic commissions meet regularly (about 4 times a year) to exchange ideas and make use of synergies.

Are you looking for an exciting topic for your Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis? Combine your Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis with working on your professional future. We at the Association of Swiss Student Bodies (VSS) will be happy to support you. Because our field of activity covers a wide range of topics. This means that we can find interesting topics and issues for students from a wide range of degree courses.

We know from our own experience that writing a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis is a major challenge. We are happy to support you in choosing a topic and possible question(s) to enable you to write a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis in an exciting field of practice. In this way, you, but also the VSS and the students of today and tomorrow, can benefit from each other.
